"
As a touring pro angler, I would have to say Brian's Handmade Crankbaits stand
out above the rest. Each bait is unique in its own way, from the different
color variations to the weighted crankbaits that give you maximum depth.
With Brians Baits, you get quality workmanship in every bait, from the
crankbaits that cast like a dream, to the topwaters the bass attack.
I have had many successful tournaments
using Brian's Custom Baits. No matter what level you fish, these baits
will out perform all the rest."

Todd Auten
caught most of his fish on day 1 fishing a 3/8-ounce War Eagle spinnerbait
(chartreuse/blue skirt with gold willows) and a Zoom Baby Brush Hog (rootbeer
green) in two places. One was "isolated, off-the-bank structure in the backs
of pockets where they flattened out," he said. "It was kind of a hard
pattern because there wasn't much of it. I had to keep milk-running it." The
other place was laydowns on the main river (fished only with the spinnerbait).
"On the
second day, with the clouds and everything, I caught a limit on a Topwater
B, made by Brian's Crankbaits (Mt. Holly, N.C.). It was chartreuse with a
black back and white belly, and it's like a Spook but it's made out of wood
with brass rattles." He also caught one good fish on the Baby Brush Hog.
On day 3 he
tried the Baby Brush Hog, but didn't get a bite on it. His most productive
bait was a 3/8-ounce brown homemade jig with a hand-tied living-rubber
skirt, tipped with a Zoom Super Chunk (chartreuse-pumpkin) that he dyed "a
little" chartreuse. He also caught one on a Rippler buzzbait.

For the topwater baits he used a 6'6" All Star medium-action rod.

Auten third
Todd
Auten of Lake Wylie, S.C., finished third with a four-day total of 54 pounds, 6
ounces worth $40,000.
Auten spent a better part of the week pitching a 1/2-ounce Outlaw jig (Texas
craw color with a sapphire-blue Zoom Vibra-Craw trailer) in Taylor Creek to make
the top 10.
That bite fizzled out on him today, so he moved to Uncle Joe’s Cut and began
cranking a Brains Bees Skinny B 2 down the canal’s 2- to 4-foot rock break.
“I was paralleling and keying on rock along the ledge,” Auten said. “I’m glad I
made the move because I culled out three little ones that I caught in Taylor
Creek. But I wish I had done it a little earlier. They were really biting well
in there when I had to leave for weigh
